Dr. Katz has over 30 years of extensive experience working with the Court, DCPP, Office of the Law Guardian, Public Defender’s Office, private attorneys, U.S. Attorney’s Office, insurance companies and other agencies in the areas of child abuse, neglect, trauma and risk assessment, including evaluation of sexual offending, violence and diminished capacity, trauma, independent psychological evaluations, case consultation, etc. Dr. Katz performs child custody and risk assessment evaluations including specialized cases, such as assessing allegations of abuse or neglect during high parental conflict and divorce. Dr. Katz has been instrumental in numerous appellate decisions and with agencies with regard to policy, standards and guidelines of practice for forensic assessment. Dr. Katz has provided forensic therapeutic services in the areas of parenting education, childhood trauma, supervised visitation, therapeutic visitation and reunification therapy.
Dr. Katz has served as a supervisor for permit holders in psychology, providing direct supervision to permit holders and training in the areas of forensic and clinical practice; authorized through the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners.
Dr. Katz also has clinical training and experience in the assessment and treatment of various psychological disorders including traumatic brain injuries, developmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, parenting issues, trauma related disorders, substance use disorders, anxiety, depression, as well as many other diagnostic/clinical issues.
Dr. Katz has authorization for in-person and virtual evaluations in many states through PsyPact. Dr. Katz had previously been approved to conduct specific psychological evaluations in various states, including Alabama, New Jersey, Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas and Louisiana. Dr. Katz has conducted numerous psychological evaluations at Federal, State and County prisons. Dr. Katz has been qualified as an expert in psychology in numerous New Jersey Courts and in Federal Court in the areas of psychology, parental capacity, bonding, substance use affecting parental capacity, risk assessment, sexual offending, diminished capacity, cognitive capacity, intimate partner violence, juvenile violence, trauma, parental substance use, etc.
